Outreach Committee

The mission of the Outreach Committee is to discern where God is calling us to demonstrate our love for our neighbors in the larger community outside our parish.

Our outreach efforts focus on the themes of poverty, including food and housing insecurity and lack of access to quality preschool education, and support for incarcerated men and women. This framework informed our decision to support the following organizations.

The Outreach Committee also invited the parish to share its time, treasures and talents with the following organizations and projects:

Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women

Outreach pastoral visits provided by Deacon Ann Douglas, Dwight Douglas, and Reverend Glenn B Chalmers.

Many women at Bedford participate faithfully in the church service provided every Monday at the prison by Deacon Ann and Dwight Douglas.  Our parish participated in a food drive for the women. Many items of food were donated and packed into boxes for delivery to the prison.  In addition, birthday cards are signed during coffee hours and mailed off to individual prisoners throughout the year, thanks to Deacon Ann's steadfastness.

Outreach program coordinated by Deacon Ann Douglas.

We support the Holiday Shop for families at the RSHM LIFE Center in Sleepy Hollow. Sr. Susan coordinates donations of clothing and toys from various donors to supply a "store" for the participating families to purchase gifts for their children. Parishioners have donated gifts to this effort and have also supported this program with financial contributions that are used to purchase items for the store."

A dedicated team of our parishioners continues to serve at this soup kitchen in Ossining.  Through this ecumenical effort of hospitality, every Saturday night a hot dinner is prepared and served at no cost and all are welcome.  Teams of volunteers from several churches work on a rotational schedule; Fiona Matthew coordinates this mission.

Rivertowns Episcopal Parishes Action on Inclusion and Race

Five years ago our rector and the rectors of three other local Episcopal churches decided to jointly offer a Lenten education series to consider the roots and causes of racism. The program was so meaningful that participants decided to turn it into an ongoing ministry, hosting programs monthly from September through June in alternating parishes. Several members of All Saints' Church have been particularly active, with three members participating in the organizing committee, which determines, facilitates, plans and publicizes those meetings.  Meetings are open to the public, and some have been attended by more than 100. Particularly successful were Bystander Training Workshops (hosted by All Saints') and a talk by Ibraham X. Kendi, winner of the National Book Award for Stamped From the Beginning: The Definitive istory of Racist Ideas in America, hosted at the public library. For more information, consult the REPAIR Facebook page or our website, www.repairrivertowns.org .

Time: Third Wednesday of the month, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Location to be determined for each meeting.
