I Shall Fear No Evil, For You Are With Me

Posted by on

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
(Psalm 23:4)

The psalmist in his beautiful and poetic way speaks to us of death. Death is a sure thing, it is the one thing we have in common. We look for ways to deal with the “shadow of death” and the many fears and anxieties that come to us.

God helps us with the thoughts he gives us in our hour of need. He compares the rod and the staff which help him control his sheep with the comfort and trust he gives us as we may wander and worry. He finds ways by his loving care to release us from the fear of death. We learn to trust his love. We feel protected and are grateful to him.

He guides us in our going out and our coming in.
